If you have a device not on this list, please tell us the test result, by editing the tables below, and/or by sending an email to the smartmontools-database mailinglist. Notes
Firmware updates
While several chipsets are listed in unsupported category above (e.g. ASMedia - the USB ID of which may or may not actually indicate an ASMedia chip), there might actually be "better" firmware available. Given sufficient(!) Internet research one might be able to find a compatible improved firmware which given some luck smartmontools then will be able to support. Do exercise lots of caution,though (an improper/incompatible firmware update may easily render such USB adapters unusable/bricks).
Misc
Skymedi SK7301 USB 3.0 to SATA II Bridge Controller link. There is a chip block diagram, but no datasheet.
