#1125 closed enhancement (wontfix)
drivedb.h not up to date when smartmontools is downloaded

Description
When version 6.6 of smartmontools is downloaded from the sourceforge link, it does not include the latest version of the drivedb.h file, but an older version. This can cause confusion when smartctl reports that a drive is not contained in the database, even if it actually is in a later revision. I read the comment about the update executable not working anymore, and this is probably linked to that issue, but I thought i would bring it to someone's attention. Thanks!

There are no plans to add an auto update of drive database to the windows installer or to provide new versions of the installer with updated database.
If update-smart-drivedb.exe
does not work for you, please create a separate ticket.
You didn't mention the platform, so I guess you mean the Windows package (there is also a Darwin/MacOS package).
If a package dated 2017-11-05 is downloaded and installed, it of course does not contain newer versions of the
drivedb.h
file. This is unrelated to the fact thatupdate-smart-drivedb.exe
might not work (e.g. behind a proxy). For packages build from current SVN snapshots, see https://builds.smartmontools.org/.
