Description
I have a device (ODROID CloudShell 2) with this chipset in, which doesn't get auto-recognised, and needs "-d sat" to get SMART info.
As far as I can see, this device code also isn't mentioned on the smartmontools wiki.

Would it be useful to provide any additional info, e.g. lsusb (-t) output?
For USB bridges, info about USB ID and supported protocol (-d sat
) is sufficient.

Hereby 2 reports of the same drive, as attached on motherboard SATA port, and to "EWENT EW7014 USB3.1 Dual Docking Station", USB ID from Windows Device Manager:
USB\VID_ 152D &PID_ 0561 REV_0105
Seems like is on: https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/Supported_USB-Devices_idVendor-0x1000#idVendor0x1500, based on "0561 JMS551 - Sharkoon SATA QuickPort Duo"
Yet, issues:
- "Wt Cache Reorder: Unknown".
- === START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION ===
SMART Status not supported: Incomplete response, ATA output registers missing
SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: PASSED
Warning: This result is based on an Attribute check.
- "Warning! SMART Selective Self-Test Log Structure error: invalid SMART checksum."
- SMART WRITE LOG does not return COUNT and LBA_LOW register
SCT (Get) Error Recovery Control command failed.

These are typical limitations of incomplete/buggy SAT implementations of USB bridges. Cannot be fixed by drive database entries.
Please don't reopen old drive database entries to report possible smartctl bugs. Create new tickets instead (which is useless in this case, as this needs to be fixed in USB bridge firmware itself).
