smartctrl labels seemingly good value pre-fail (windows and linux)

When I run smartctl on my new Toshiba 1TB drive many of the smart parameters are labeled are labelled pre-fail which doesn't seem to make sense from the values listed. Am I doing something wrong, is my drive oddball?

No attribute is marked as failed in the WHEN_FAILED column. The TYPE column only indicates the attribute type.

Please note: the fact that an Attribute is of type 'Pre-fail' does not mean that your disk is about to fail!

The new format of the attribute table decodes all type flags and might be less misleading: Try -x instead of --all or add -f brief option.
